On Thursday April 30, 2015 at 2 pm the Davis Bozeman Law Firm and community activist will hold a press conference in Decatur, Georgia to urge the safe surrender of Eric Sheppard.

Sheppard was the Valdosta State University student who was seen walking over an American flag in an active fight for justice for the death of Kendrick Johnson, the young black teen who was found brutally murdered and stuffed into a high school gym mat, and to end systemic racism in America. Sheppard is an honor roll student at VSU that is now wanted by police for allegedly carrying a firearm on campus during the protest.

The gun was found in a book bag on campus but the bag was not found in Sheppard’s possession. Valdosta police claim that there is “unmistakable evidence” that links Sheppard to being the owner of the gun and that they have video evidence of him dropping the bag outside of the campus library.

Unless the supposed video in question can show Eric “EJ” Sheppard dropping the backpack and the police retrieving it uninterrupted on film until the weapons were removed from the bag by cops is also on video, there likely will be an issue with making a case that he in fact placed the gun and clips inside of that bag. Many of Sheppard’s supporters believe he is being framed by the authorities however until he surrenders no one knows what the other side of this story is.

The family of Sheppard has acquired the services of the Davis Bozeman Law Firm to represent him and the press conference is to help facilitate his safe surrender. It will be held at 4153B Flat Shoals Parkway Suite 204 Trinity Office Park Decatur, Ga 30034.

“We have a history of representing activists who have lifted their voices in order to shine a bright light on social justice issues in America. EJ is a new young voice that we cannot allow to be silenced and criminalized. He is worthy of our support and the support of the community,” Attorney Mawuli Davis of the Davis Bozeman Law Firm.

The law firm has successfully handled many high-profile cases involving the death and unfair prosecution of African-Americans across the state of Georgia.
