Adrien Broner Makes Racial Slur: WBC Hits Back With Suspension

| May 8, 2014 | 0 Comments

The Mayweather v. Maidana bout may have been the main event last Saturday night but it was not the only one to end in controversial fashion. 24-year old Adrien Broner defeated Carlos Molina. During the post fight interview, an emotionally charged Broner yelled out “I just beat the [expletive] out of a Mexican” after the 10 round unanimous decision.

Interestingly, Broner is 28-1 so far in his six-year professional career with his first loss coming five months earlier to Marcos Maidana who won by unanimous decision in 12 rounds. Had Broner won that fight over Maidana it would have been Broner fighting Mayweather for the Pay-Per-View event. Instead Broner winds up fighting and ultimately dominating Molina in a 10 round bout which culminated in a victory followed by the racial slur.

Everyone should know that boxing just like any other sport. Very competitive. Opponents often talk trash before and even during competition to gain an edge. However, there are boundaries.

The WBC has announced today that the current WBA Super Lightweight champion has been suspended from boxing until he issues a public apology to both Molina and the boxing world and its fans.

The question is will Broner oblige?
