Not paying taxes seems like it’s becoming a trend amongst rappers these days. From Method Man back in 2009 and Wyclef Jean in 2010 to Ja Rule, Lil Wayne, Swizz Beatz and most recently Dame Dash all this year, maybe these guys feel like they just don’t have to. Next to be added to the list of tax skippers is Philly rapper Beanie Sigel.
Beanie Sigel appeared in Federal court yesterday (August 9) where he pleaded guilty to owing almost $350,000 in back taxes, failing to file federal income tax returns for 2003, 2004 and 2005. The IRS believes that he did not report more than $1 million in income.
Siegel’s lawyer Fortunato Perri Jr. claims that the amount is inaccurate and will challenge the accusations.
Beanie Sigel is scheduled to be sentenced on November 18th where he could receive up to three additional years in federal prison.
