Beyonce Opens Up About Surrogacy Rumors and Miscarriage in HBO Documentary

The world has been waiting for February 19, just so that we can get an inside view into the life of international superstar, Beyonce Knowles-Carter in her HBO Documentary, Life Is But a Dream. Some media outlets have already received advanced copies of the highly-anticipated documentary, and according to USA Today, the singer tackles some super personal, intimate issues in the doc.

In one portion of the doc, Beyonce opens up about media and fan speculation that she faked her pregnancy and instead used a surrogate mother. Here’s what Beyonce had to say about the surrogacy rumors and a miscarriage that she endured but obviously kept hidden from the public:

“There’s a stupid rumor. The most ridiculous rumor I think I’ve ever had about me. It’s crazy. To think I would be that vain—I respect mothers and women so much and to be able to experience bringing a child into this world, if you’re lucky and fortunate enough to experience that, I would never, ever take that for granted. It’s the most powerful thing you can do. Especially after losing a child, the pain and trauma from that just makes it mean so much more to get an opportunity to bring life into the world. It seems like people should have boundaries,”

Life Is But a Dream airs February 19 on HBO. Check out footage below of Beyonce’s highly publicized performance of The Star Spangled Banner at last week’s Presidential Inauguration.
