11-year old golf sensation Lucy Li qualifies for the U.S. Open after a phenomenal performance Monday.

Li propelled her way into the selection for the tournament by shooting a 74 and 68 on a par-72 course in a sectional qualifier at the Half Moon Bay Old Course.

She superseded the second-place qualifier Kathleen Scavo by seven strokes.

With the majors tournament selection, Li became the youngest qualifier for the U.S. Open of all-time. She eclipsed the record that was previously held by Lexi Thompson who was 12 years old at the time she qualified for the event back in 2007.

The Redwood Shores, California native won her age group in the inaugural Drive, Chip and Putt Championship held in April before the Masters tournament.

Last year, Li qualified for the match-play portion of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship but failed to advance out of the first round.

Nonetheless, Li has accomplished something of monumental proportions and that is qualify for one of the biggest golf events of the year.

The U.S. Women’s Open is scheduled to be played June 19-22 at Pinehurst.
