Yesterday the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department responded to a “reported structure fire at Tyler Perry Studios” (3133 Contnental Colony Parkway SW). The AFRD confirmed the first unit arrived five minutes after the call and reported a working fire on the roof of the actor/director, screen and playright Tyler Perry’s Tyler Perry Studios.

The building was undergoing roof repairs when the fire started. What started the fire? Capt. Marian McDaniel of the AFRD said today (Tues. Aug 28th) that no criminal charges were pending however, the fire was caused by “Careless Smoking.” The fire took about an hour to get extinguished however this isn’t the first time the filmaker’s studios were endanger of going up in flames.

According to Fox News, this was the second blaze in recent months at the filmaker’s filming complex. “On May 1, more than 100 firefighters battled a blaze that ripped through a simulated streetscape at the studios, sending flames about six stories into the sky. The cause of that fire was not determined because the intensity of that fire consumed any evidence that could be used to determine its origin.” Source: Associated Press
