Breaking: Renisha McBride’s Killer Found Guilty, Faces Life Sentence

The family and supporters of 19 year old Renisha McBride can finally start to heal after hearing the guilty verdict in the murder trial of 55yr old Theodore Wafer. Wafer is on trial for November 2, 2013 shooting death of Renisha McBride in the quiet suburbia of Dearborn Heights in Detroit.

In the early hours of the morning on November 2, 2013 Renisha McBride crashed into a parked car at the intersection of Bramell and Majestic on the Westside of Detroit. According to EMS reports, McBride walked away from the scene in s disoriented state several times. She was not able to use her phone or give anyone her information says one bystander.

Screenshot 2014-08-07 19.17.30Sometime after 4:40am McBride came to the residence of 55-year-old Theodore Wafer and proceeded to knock on his door for assistance when she was met with an array of buck shots from a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun. McBride was hit on the face and killed immediately. Wafer claims he was in fear of his life and acted in self-defense.

The social backlash from the trial has caused many to continue questioning the motives of private citizens using weapons and the continued racial profiling many say have everything to due with the death of Renisha McBride. Renisha’s father; Walter McBride told reporters ” Wafer is a monster” after the guilty verdict came in.

Wafer was found guilty of 2nd degree murder which carries the maximum sentence of life imprisonment, manslaughter which carries the maximum of 15 years and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in which he faces an additional 2 years. Sentencing is scheduled on the 21st of August, 2014 in Wayne County Circuit court.
