Erika Stotts Pearson, a businesswoman and charter school founder, is running for election to the U.S. House to represent the 8th Congressional District in Tennessee.  She won the Democratic primary and faces Republican challenger David Kustoff in November.

The roots run deep for Erika in northwest Tennessee.  She is the descendant of a family who, even before Reconstruction, owned land and hired black and white sharecroppers who worked together on that land, then built the first one room schoolhouse and the first church, Philadelphia Baptist Church, in their town.

Erika’s great-great-grandfather established Edenton Farms on the family land in the 1830s.  Charlie Edenton had studied with George Washington Carver and learned techniques he would eventually bring back to the 495-acre farm that, along with the church, still exists in Fayette County, Tennessee.  For decades, the Stotts family contributed so much to the area and its people that one of the many honors received was having a local bridge named after Mr. Edenton.

Her family history is replete with many accomplished African Americans, including a cousin, Carl Stotts, who was the first black Fire Chief of the Memphis Fire Department, another cousin, Rita Stotts, who was a federal judge, a mother who spent 44 years as an educator in the Memphis City school district and a grandmother who is first cousin to activist Angela Davis.

Erika attended the University of Memphis and the University of Massachusetts earning multiple degrees in Economics, Finance, and Engineering, but it was her Master of Science in Sport and Leisure Commerce that she immediately put to use with her own sports agency, Pro Vision Sports.  While in Massachusetts, she met the wife of Stanley Morgan.  Morgan, who played 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, and his wife owned a little boutique Erika frequented.  Morgan’s wife was determined to introduce Erika to her husband.

“His wife talked to me every day and said, my husband is starting a firm; I know you have your own firm, but I’m pushing for a woman to get into that firm.  So, when I finally met her husband he said, I had to hear pillow talk about you every night!”

She merged her company with what would eventually become MidSouth Sports.

“I was the only female agent assigned to basketball and football which was really, really exciting. Coming into the sports program . . . I had to manage a women’s professional basketball team, which would be the precursor to the ABL.”

The ABL, or American Basketball League, started in 1996 and was the first independent professional basketball league for women in the United States.

When asked how she became interested in owning a sports agency at a time when not many blacks, much less black women, were involved in the industry, she said her Mom was an athlete at Tennessee State University and had many friends who were Olympians, including the great Wilma Rudolph, whom she affectionately referred to as “Auntie Skeet.”  She would listen to these women saying they felt their careers would fare better under a female agent.

Apparently not lacking confidence, even as a child, she thought, “I know I’m going to be an engineer, ‘cause that’s already in my DNA, but whatever that is you’re talking about, I think I can do that for you.”

Erika believes she won her primary so decisively this year because of her family name (which she was initially reluctant to use) and the effort she made running for the same seat in 2018.

Even though she won the primary, but lost the general election, she sees that race as a stepping-stone to an eventual win in 2020.  She also sees her run for office as a much-needed example for black girls.

Lloyd has finally stepped back onto the scene. After a long hiatus, he has released his 5th studio album “Tru.”

In the interview, we sit down with Lloyd and talk about how long it took to make the album and where the inspiration came from. He talks about “losing track of time” when he’s making music, and using his previous experiences, in music and otherwise, as learning curves.

The album features names like Sevyn Streeter, Lil’ Wayne, and Rick Ross. One of the tracks, “Infinity”,  most notably features his son River.

In the interview, he confirms that he will be going on tour with this album. Stating that’s where he feels most comfortable, “on stage.”

In an exclusive sit down interview with The Breakfast Club, Rap-A-Lot CEO J. Pusha T went to a “Pig Pen” mentality however Drake was cocked and loaded and ready to fire a response.”

“I call it a pigpen mentality. We gonna put this to bed because we can’t get in the pigpen with pigs, because pigs turn into hogs, and then hogs get slaughtered. That’s not his character. We ain’t worked this hard to cheat ourselves over nothing,” he continued.

“The ingredients was overwhelming. I know for a fact that it would have been bad for Kanye and my man,” he said of the track. “It just wouldn’t be good. It’s beyond music at that point. It’s going to affect the livelihood. It’s going to interfere with his whole lifestyle from that moment.”

Meet Curtis Jones, professionally known as “Big40.” When the phone conversation first started, I was thinking he’s going to reminisce on a situation involving a large, 40oz of booze but the 17-year-old break-out star isn’t hipped to inebriation just yet. The Cleveland native raps about his experiences in the rough areas of his neighborhood. He references himself to be a sponge with a lot going on around him, as a typical kid, it caused him to pick up on everything happening. Everyone has their vices, some people may be using smoking or even binge eating as an escape but Big40 uses music to mask his reality.

The World Star Hip Hop premiered single “Motivation” is dedicated to his mom, Chavon Smith, whom he wants to make proud while she’s looking down on him from Heaven.

“I was gone buy you a crib in Jamaica, I was gone buy you a foreign from Jamaica…Mama baby I told you we gone get it. Told my brothers we gone make it I ain’t trippin,” as the hook quotes in the single.

Big40 knows all to well how adversity can be a lightning rod for change as he has suffered major losses in the past with the passing of his father as a result of suicide in 2011 and then 5 years later his mother was murdered as a result of a failed armed robbery while he was working in a recording studio. The determined lyricist used these tragedies to write music that addressed the things he has dealt with.

He’s set to perform alongside Kash Doll on June 2nd at Medusa’s Restaurant and Lounge in Cleveland. Lil Baby, Gunna, and Lucci are just a few of the big names he hopes to work with during his journey. Southside 808 is one of the few producers we can expect him to work with.

The aspiring 17-year old recently signed with White Boy Entertainment, an independent label also in Cleveland which is headed by former rap star H-Flo who signed to Philthy Rich Records which is owned by boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather. Flo knew off the rip that Big40 possessed the star-power for success.

Big40 acknowledges that he writes the lyrics to his own chapters as he continues to turn the pages of his life. His studio sessions are usually conducted with a producer throwing on a beat and his pen moving from there. He wasn’t afraid to admit that he’s still learning his sound and his voice. He understands success doesn’t come overnight and is willing to put in the hard work to reach new plateaus in his career.

The “Motivation” rapper is looking forward to the different phases of life post-adolescence, acknowledging to not having experienced real life. Until then, he mentions having listeners lit in the club, motivated to grind, and a little in their feelings. Cleveland has shaped the story but the youngster describes the sound to be mixed with an Atlanta sound and a bit of Miami bounce to it which makes his sound different.

Be sure to check out the latest visual out now and let us know what you think.

“You gone listen to me, right? Then you gone turn up, and then I’ma switch it, then I’m make you cry, then I’ma make you laugh,” says Young Niyah. There’s no denying that music is in her veins. Daughter of R&B songstress Tamika Scott of the 90’s group Xscape, Young Niyah is full of passion and animation. The 18 year-old star is not only invested in her music, but also in the business aspect of entertainment, Scott mentions in an exclusive interview with Hip Hop Enquirer announcing that she’s proud of her daughter for owning stock in their company Brolic Entertainment.

Her single Hit Em with the quotable hook “Say they, coming through to the south, so baby what it do with that mouth.” Young Niyah stamps her household name as “Princess of the South.”Nonetheless, the line “what it do with that mouth” isn’t referring to anything sexual. The Atlanta-bred adolescent elaborates on the hook’s meaning of haters always having something to say. Prematurely, being in the music scene since exiting the womb, Young Niyah has participated in acting classes and has also been involved in writing & music production. Much of her inspiration comes from her mother which she closely resembles (however they both beg to differ) and she also mentions Lauren Hill as an artist she listened to in her younger years. We asked Miss. Scott about allowing her daughter to tour by herself as an adult and she is at the least of worries. Young Niyah’s focus is her pen & her pad. We won’t expect her to wild out like a lot of young adults who grew up in the music industry. She’ll be “hitting” all her haters but she won’t be “hitting” anybody back in the DMs…HA!

Check out the exclusive interview with Tamika Scott & Young Niyah, right outside the Granite Car & Bike show in Lithonia.

Birdman recently met with Rap Up to promote his apple Documentary Before Anything: The Cash Money Story. During this interview with Rap-Up, Cash Money mogul Birdman made a few statements about YMCMB’s Nicki Minaj. Birdman referred to the Spaceship artist as the best female hip-hop artist ever.

“I always say she’s the best ever, best female ever in hip-hop, hands down, facts. There’s no getting around it,” he declared. “There’s levels to this s**t. Very many levels to this s**t. She’s an elite.”

Sometimes, you can put Nicki in a room with males on a rap, but if you put her on females, it’s nothing,” he explained. “She’s a monster in her own race.”

I’m blessed to have her a part of my team. She’s a special talent I’ve never heard before,” he said.

We’re familiar with the female artists that came for Minaj’s thrown. Nicki Minaj had to go against former Queens and wanna be queens. The first and biggest beef the “Itty Bitty Piggy” star had been with  Lil Kim.

This is when we really saw the Queen’s creativity. She came out with hit singles “Romans Revenge” and Did It On Em” that featured on her album Pink Friday. Lil Kim fought back with her mixtape Black Friday. The two artist never really made up, they just learned how to make money and coexist in the same industry.

Minaj next rivalry was with Remy Ma:  It started with little jabs between each artist on features like on Fat Joe money showers and Gucci Mane “Make Love.”

Then diss tracks Remy’s Shetter & Minaj’s’ No Frauds was birthed. Last but not least reality star Cardi B was supposedly next in line.

Minaj dead all that negative energy by doing a song with the “Bodak Yellow” artist and the Migos. There hasn’t been any real beef between the two Motorsport artists just speculations and comparisons of their respective style of lyrical delivery.

In Birdman’s man interview with Rap-Up, he also touched on Minaj’s social media absence, stating that she is excited, focused & working her hardest on her new projects. Watch the full interview below.

In an exclusive listening session, the women from the legendary R & B group Xscape premiered new music from their upcoming album.

Tameka “Tiny” Harris, LaTocha Scott, and  Tamika Scott aka Xscape 3 the alter ego of Xscape, sat down in an intimate music listening session where they dropped a few club bangers and r&b ballads. Before the music began, group member Tamika Scott gave the crowd a disclaimer on what they are about to listen to by saying “Xscape 3 is the alter ego of Xscape, so some of what you are about to hear is going to be different from the 90’s style of Xscape.” Fourth member  Kandi Burruss was not in attendance due to her participation in off-Broadway play NEWSical.

In the hour-long listening and Q &A  session, the group took the Berry Gordy Motown approach and turned the session into a music focus session. Where the group used the audience to help them gauge the best tracks for the upcoming album.

The group also took the time to address questions about their upcoming tour and if their tour would include Kandi Buress. The Trio confirmed that they are booked up until May and Kandi will not be apart of the currently booked dates because of her Broadway show obligations according to fellow band members. When asked will Kandi be returning to the group Tiny simply said we will know by June.  The group also confirmed they will be performing on the main stage at the Essence Festival.

The ladies even crushed the movie rumors by confirming that the Xscape movie is in the works and they even have an idea of who will be playing their role in the film.

2018 looks like it will be an amazing year for the veteran female R&B group. Check out the exclusive Hip Hop Enquirer behind the scene video of the Xscape 3 listening session.

Hip Hop Enquirer’s Dennis Byron sat down with the new co-host Eboni K. Williams of the now Curtis & Eboni Show on a live Google Hangout to talk about some current and trending news topics. During the interview, the two touched on the very controversial Bill Cosby Rape Trial & Keisha Knight Pulliam’s questionable appearance at the trial, James Comey’s Senate Intelligence Hearing testimony, Black Lives Matter Segregated Memorial Day For Blacks Only and how talk show host Lisa Durden annihilated Fox News host Tucker Carlson on his own show.

Williams is and was originally known for serving as a defense attorney best known for her contributions on “The Fox News Specialists”.  She recently announced that she would be replacing renowned Civil Rights attorney Ron Kuby and joining Guardian Angels Leader Curtis Silwa on the WABC radio talk show. Her first day on the job was last Monday and she says that they got off to a good start together and it was “rocking and rolling”.

The first topic that Mr. Byron and Eboni spoke about was Bill Maher’s recent use of the “N” word live on air over the weekend. Bill Maher is the host of his show called “Real Time with Bill Maher” and on his show this weekend he uttered a racial slur known as deeply offensive in the African-American community. He was making a joke that seemed to go too far when talking about being a “house n*gger”. Mr. Byron asked Eboni about what happened on her show when discussing the matter and the situation didn’t go over so well with the co-host.

“I am a black person in this country who does not like the N word. I don’t give a damn who you are. I don’t want it used whatsoever by anybody black, white, brown, or purple.”, she went on to say, “The casual way in which he said it really was disturbing to me too like that’s just how he speaks all the time and again, I’m not here for it.”

Catch the segment below:

She goes on further about the topic and explains how she feels that the black community needs to be more socially responsible and not let just anyone use the word however they please. She wants the word to not be used at all anymore period.

The next topic that the two delve into is Keshia Knight Pulliam’s recent appearance alongside Bill Cosby in his sexual assault trial where he is being accused of instances from decades ago. Pulliam’s open support and physical presence with Cosby in court sent many news outlets over the edge this week. Many were wondering how this might affect Cosby’s fate in the long run. Williams spoke about this topic on her show and says that she has her “suspicions as to why she was there.” “It also makes her relevant again. Who’s talking about Keshia Knight Pulliam but for that photo op and statement that she released next to Mr. Cosby?”

She unpacked her thoughts more and said that she feels that it was a bad move from the defense side and standpoint of things. Mr. Cosby has been usually pictured going into court looking not as joyful and alert as he was when he was pictured with a woman in her 30’s like Keisha Knight Pulliam. Williams believes that there needs to be a certain image and narrative that Cosby should try to stick to for his sake in this trial.

Outspoken talk show host Lisa Durden went toe to toe with Fox News host Tucker Carlson in a video that has since went viral when he asked her thoughts about the Black Lives Matter organization wanting to have a segregated Memorial Day Holiday in honor of people of color.

When asked about the matter, Mrs. Williams stated that she believes it was a setup segment and she didn’t want to watch it because she knew it world be a bad look. She also agrees that there is nothing wrong with segregated events like the one Black Lives Matter proposed because “This is America.”

The two decided to discuss Thursday’s Senate Intelligence hearing with fired former FBI Director James Comey. Mr. Byron felt that there were some compelling details that came from the hearing that may suggest that President Trump may have obstructed justice. However, Mrs. Williams had an alternate assessment of the testimony: “Everything he said, I pretty much anticipated and if you’ve been paying attention in this news cycle, you should have as well.”

Entertainment reporter Taylor Walton got to sit down with Grammy nominated rapper and Atlanta native B.o.B. yesterday at his silent album listening party. The rapper discussed how the album came about, some of the album features, and even singer Bruno Mars’ success since first debuting as a feature artist on “Nothin’ On You” in 2010.

B.o.B released his fourth coming studio album on May 12th and it is also his first work of art put out since dropping Grand Hustle/Atlantic records and going independent last year.

“It couldn’t have happened at a better time.” he says when talking about his new-found independence.

“Ether” is Bobby Ray’s first album since the release of “Underground Luxury” in 2013. Since then, he has been hard at work and released 4 different mixtapes that were each titled after each classical element.

“Ether’s just a more lyrical album, it’s a more lyrical approach, more of a hip hop approach. But I feel like it gives something for all of my fans whether you’re a hip hop fan, conscious, trap, pop, alternative, whatever it is it’s got something for you on there.” the Atlanta bred entertainer says.

After keeping quiet about his controversial exit from the hit comedy show, “Saturday Night Live”, Jay Pharoah spoke out about his rocky time on the show and the events leading up to his exit.

The comedian was a guest star on New York radio station, Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning”, and let it all out about his contract never being renewed with the NBC show after 6 seasons. Him and former SNL star, Taran Killam, were both let go in the summer of 2016 with little to no explanation and now Pharoah is putting the rumors to rest.

“You go where you’re appreciated”, he told show hosts Peter Rosenberg and Laura Stylez.

“They put people into boxes and whatever they want you to do, they expect you to do.” he explains while touching on how the show puts its cast members into “impression boxes”. Now, I’m sure you can remember always seeing the actor’s memorable face when it came time for a Jay-Z, former U.S. president Barack Obama, and even Ben Carson impersonation. Jay Pharoah is no amateur when it comes to impersonations but he feels that his Barack Obama one may have been one of his acts that lead to the companies ultimate disinterest with him.

Pharoah says that he felt like the show’s overall boredom with this specific parody act came about during his last 18 months on the show.

“I feel like they gave up…on the Obama thing.” he told the radio station.”It’s just like a ‘whatever’ attitude.” He even admitted to being the cultivator of the show’s recent racial discussion topics. “Yes, I’m the reason It happened.” he says in relation to some of the new African American cast members. Sasheer Zamata was hired as the fifth black woman to ever become a cast member in 2014 along with the occasional “Weekend Update” guest, Leslie Jones, who was promoted to a cast member later that year as well.

Leslie Jones and Sasheer Zamata pictured together at the American Museum of Natural History in 2014

When asked about potential “bad blood” between him and the late night show’s executive producer, Lorne Michaels, Pharoah responds saying that the two are still on “good graces and everything”. He appreciates that time in his life as an appropriate “stepping stone” and plans to move on with his career.

Brother Polight receives a Proclamation from the Cleveland City Council at the Mayor’s office for Activism and Leadership in the Community

Brother Polight recently sat down with VladTV and discussed his beliefs on “the white man” stigma, the authenticity of a “real” hood, and his opinion on the black man in America.

A vastly known celebrity mentor, activist, and public speaker, Polight has been recognized as a voice for the people as well as “The Evolution Of The Revolution”, which he often calls himself on social media. His strong beliefs and powerful voice that delivers his stirring messages provides a true testament for his undeniable respect worldwide.

In his interview with VladTV, he touches on some somewhat controversial topics within the black community and how he feels that most of them are just plain myths. Polight firstly jumps in and explains that he doesn’t understand the Americanized African-American culture of the romanticized view of a stereotypical urban “hood”. Being a former citizen of Brownsville, New York, he address how his peers along with himself would constantly remind themselves of the endless possibilities if and when they got to the other side.

Now, he is currently being criticized by those same people still living in those urban areas for apparently leaving his community behind once he made it big. Since leaving a poorer community, he now travels the world and shares his story with the masses while educating blacks about doing better within their own neighborhood.

Here he is pictured at California State University lecturing to millennials with the topic “The Fear of Success”: Changing the Socio-Economical Paradigm of the American African Family”:

The public figure says that he “understands the sentiment” and where his people are coming from but wishes that they could try to sympathize with his standpoint.

He goes on to assert his credibility by stating the amount of international traveling that he has done over the years which include Egypt, the United Kingdom, Ethiopia, South Africa, the Bahamas, France, and even Israel. By being able to experience all of these different cultures, politics, and many diverse patrons, he quickly developed a more open view of the world around him.

When visiting Egypt, he posted this video on his Instagram sharing his views on the ancient history of Moses and Jesus:

Brother Polight describes how he believes that most of the poverty stricken communities are stuck in a certain negative mindset and one track mind about the relationship between blacks and whites worldwide.

In a recent sit down interview with VladTV, prolific speaker and celebrity mentor Brother Polight explained why he believes religion has been the downfall of people of cover. He points out that religion was given to people of color during their time of servitude and he challenged anyone who could provide evidence to the contrary.

“We see that Christians called on Allah before Muslims called on Allah. The Christians worshiped Allah before the Muslims were even spoken of. And in fact, there’s no documentation of a Muslim until hundreds of years after the death of Prophet Muhammad. We don’t see no documentation or acknowledgement about Prophet Muhammad’s life until 200 hundred years after his death. I’m not saying he didn’t exist but if I tried to sell you a story thereafter, you would think its suspect.”

Does Brother Polight make a plausible argument? Can you provide research information to refute what he is saying? Leave a comment in the box below.

Rapper Lil Wayne found himself embroiled in another controversy after doing a sit down interview with Nightly News when the interviewer asked him what did he think about the Black Lives Matter movement?

Lil Wayne told reporter Lindsey Davis that he doesn’t connect with the Black Lives Movement. “”my life matter, especially my bitches.” Sounds like he and Donald Trump would get along well together. Wayne goes on to say “I ain’t no f*cking politician.” After receiving backlash from his words, he sent out a heartfelt apology to those who were upset at his point of view.

“Apologies to anyone who was offended,” But explained that his reason for what he said was because reporter Davis asked him about his daughter.

“When the reporter began asking me questions about my daughter being labeled a bitch and a hoe, I got agitated,” According to a statement he made to TMZ.com. “From there, there was no thought put into her questions and my responses.”

Many are still probably wondering if Lil Wayne’s view of Black Lives Matter have changed or just the tone in which he will deliver his message.

Maintaining a wildly popular chain of soul food restaurants, a television show on a major television network, a flourishing music career with such connections as The Migos and Yo Gotti, and establishing community connections by standing alongside locals in times of unrest, all seem to be the stuff of theory rather than practice. However, for rapper and co-owner of the St. Louis landmark Sweetie Pie’s Tim “Time” Norman, and one of the stars of the OWN Networks original show, “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s,” accomplishing all of these things is simply another Wednesday. Hip Hop Enquirer’s Dennis Byron recently had the opportunity to interview the man who seems to master time, where they discussed everything from the origins of the family business, to what Sweetie Pie’s does to employ ex-felons, to his community involvements during the crisis in Ferguson, and finally his music career, all to gain a better understanding of how he balances a successful business and an ever budding career in entertainment.

Originally, Sweetie Pie’s was started from a family hustle of selling homemade sandwiches and pies to neighbors and St. Louis locals. When Time was sentenced to prison, the side hustle of pie slanging had grown into a quaint, mom and pop bakery, selling pies and other baked goods. Upon his release ten years later, Sweetie Pie’s was born, thanks mostly to the business knowledge he acquired while incarcerated, and to his mother and co-owner’s proactive thinking about his employment opportunities upon his release.

Of Sweetie Pie’s 250 employees, 75% are ex-felons, Time shared confidently. This was not the original intent for the direction of, however. When Time was released from prison, he realized that the job market was completely unwelcoming to an ex-felon, and because of this there weren’t many opportunities for employment or reincorporation into society. With the family business Sweetie Pie’s, he not only had an opportunity for himself to be employed, but found that he was in a position to offer employment opportunities to fellow ex-felons as well. He said, “How it started out, I was locked up with this guy, and I know he’s a good dude. He held down a job in jail for eight years without getting into trouble. I knew for a fact he’s overqualified to come here and help me fry up this chicken. Walmart won’t hire him, McDonald’s won’t hire him, [and] Home Depot won’t hire him. He can’t even get a job cutting grass. I knew he’s overqualified. You damn right Imma take him, let him come work here.” Eventually, what was intended to be simply an alternative to the bleakness of the workforce for an ex-felon, evolved into a support system for his employees who were ex-felons and attempting to readjust to society.

In addition to employing ex-felons, Time also talked about Sweetie Pie’s involvement with the crisis in Ferguson this past year. Located in the heart of St. Louis, and the original storefront on West Florissant Avenue, Time and his fellow members of Sweetie Pie’s felt inclined to survey the damages firsthand. When they arrived on the scene, Time particularly realized the life changing, historical events that were transpiring in front of him. He says, “For the first time in my life, I felt a unity and a sense of oneness within the community. And I don’t want to say it’s us against them, them being the government, but I did feel an oneness within the community. Everybody might not have stood correctly, but everybody stood together for something. That was the first time I’d seen something like that in my life.” Everyone who could do so contributed to the community efforts, “beating the pavement,” as Time called it, mobilizing the feed the masses and march alongside them. Above all, Time expressed the sense of pride he felt from his time in Ferguson, all from seeing his people and his community uniting together for a common cause.

During his ten year stint in prison, Time realized his passion for music, for rhyming, and ultimately for hip-hop. He says, “You know how it is. [You’re] locked up for hours with nothing to do. God really showed me the light in the darkness.” After five years, he became cellmates with St. Lunatic’s own City Spud, and formed a bond. From first writing hooks for him, Time was encouraged to start writing verses of his own. Time explained his name as time having no beginning and no ending, and his rhymes being the same way. These humble beginnings spawned a love and devotion to hip hop, and for Time, a future in music was the most logical next step. Through the universality of Sweetie Pie’s, Time had access to countless connections in the entertainment and music industry, and got the opportunity to be on a track with popular rap group, The Migos. By relocating himself to Los Angeles, Time says a variety of opportunities were presented to him, simply because “[from] St. Louis, it’s hard to stay in people’s face as far as doing what I need to do in the entertainment industry. The areas I wanted to grow in as far as business, it [was] hard to do that from St. Louis. It’s not Atlanta, it’s not New York, it’s not Chicago; it’s a lot of opportunities people in St. Louis don’t have. I found myself in LA so much, I thought I might as well open a restaurant out here. The locals were looking for something new.” By opening a West Coast location, Time realized the access he now had to other, more diverse markets.

When Byron asked what he believed to be the key to pursing an effective music career and maintaining a successful business, Time had this to say, “Delegation and building a strong team. They got my back in the restaurant and they got my back in life.” Whether it is truly as simple as having a strong team and work ethic, or having a number of avenues all leading ultimately to success, Tim “Time”  Norman of St. Louis’ Sweetie Pie’s and artist is truly in the process of becoming a timeless household name in the near future.

Ahead of the 58th annual National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Grammy’s) awards that took place on Monday 15 February, Ciara joined King Digital Entertainment and record label Primary Wave, among several celebrity guests, to host a pre-Grammy party to launch Candy Crush Jelly Saga, the next installment in the Candy Crush game franchise.

Grammy Award winner Ciara rose to fame in 2004 with her debut album, Goodies, which spawned three hit singles, “Goodies”, “1,2 Step” and “Oh”, working alongside artists such as Lil John, R.Kelly, Ludacris and Missy Elliot. She has become known for her stage presence throughout the years, placing as much importance on dancing and choreography as she does on her vocals.

After the much heralded success of their previous Candy Crush games, King Digital Entertainment launched Candy Crush Jelly Saga, the next installment of the popular Candy Crush franchise, introducing new game modes, features and ‘Jelly Boss’ battles against the Jelly Queen.

The singer/dancer encouraged party-goers to master their own Jellylicious dance moves on a highly responsive interactive LED ‘jelly’ dance floor that tracks the movements of dancers and reacts in real time. A troop of professional dancers demonstrated the full capability of the dance floor and all-new competitive “Jelly Boss Mode” in the game with a specially choreographed Jellytastic dance-off to the beat of Bootylicious by Destiny’s Child.

In addition, Tech N9ne spoke about his collaboration with rapper T.I. He also shared that he kicked his drug habit over 10 years ago.

At 43 years old, Kansas City rapper Tech N9ne could be crowned the world’s oldest XXL Freshman. His song “Hood Go Crazy” is cracking mainstream outlets like MTV, hip-hop radio and festivals like Los Angeles’ Powerhouse — though he’d probably do just fine without them. Since starting his Strange Music label in 1999, his independent hustle has been almost invisible from mainstream view, but it’s proven more lucrative than many traditional paths. Forbes consistently names him one of rap’s “Cash Kings” — on this year’s list, they suspect he brought in more money than Rick Ross and J. Cole. His 15th album, Special Effects, just entered the Billboard 200 at Number Four, marking his highest debut and highest sales week to date.

She spoke exclusively with HHE’s Dennis Byron about the current climate of racism across the country as well as she explained what she viewed as racism while in college and in certain times in her professional career. Judge Hachett will also be returning to television in 2016 on a show called The Verdict.

Judge Hachett didn’t pull any punches when she was asked what her thoughts were when she saw like many others the assault of a high school teenager while in a classroom being manhandled by School safety officer Ben Fields who has since been terminated. She stated that she believed that if not for the efforts of courageous students, the incident would have never came to light. The killing of motorist Walter Scott was also a real issue for her as she explains in this video. This is part 1 of a 3-part interview so we hope you enjoy.

Hip Hop Enquirer sat down with WE TV’s “Selling It In The ATL” cast member A’Lana Banks to discuss her reality TV experience with the shade being exhibited toward co-cast members, the art of selling real estate in Atlanta and more. In the interview with celebrity host Riley McKnight, A’Lana Banks explains her real estate method compared to that of the other women on the show. “I was like Jae, I was that firecracker who wanted to be off the chain but then I met someone and I humbled myself. So, it is very important to make yourself known and learn how to take in information. Also, remember that your first impression is your lasting impression.” stated Banks.

When asked about the amount of shade that was being thrown while filming and how the audience can learn from the women Banks stated, “I don’t think the shade is toward the real estate business, I think it is toward the different personalities in the room because when you put seven women on a show together there will be a lot of shade thrown. People take real estate very personal, they wear it on their sleeve, eat, sleep, and breathe the business. Those are the people who want everyone to believe the morals, professionalism, and the image. Although, those might not be the happy people but they will be able to appreciate the show. So when everyone goals are a little different you tend to see a lot of techniques the women use.”

“Every girl has a different technique so I know what everyone is good at, and I know what type of property they like to sell. Real Estate has so many areas but to last in this business you have to know how to cover all areas to be able to keep that person and close that deal. So, it is very important to know how to sell all of real estate while also finding your niche.”

Banks was also asked about the sex chair that was featured on episode 1, she replied with: “I have been told that I make others comfortable around me. I wanted  to put them in a real estate environment but also wanted to see learn about them on a more personal level and how they represent themselves.

When I started my brokerage firm, I did it because I was tired of giving away a percentage of my check. So I got my broker license, the word got out that I was opening my firm so many people who wanted to work for me started calling me. So now I have two powerhouse agents.”

“Selling It: In The ATL” comes on every Thursday on WE TV at 10pm.
