Q-Tip and Common form “The Standard”

In 2007, front man Q-Tip, member of A Tribe Called Quest, revealed in an XXL exclusive interview the likes of forming a super group. The group would be known as The Standard and would include Lonnie Rashied Lynn, Jr., better known as Common, and Kamaal Ibn John Fareed, also known as Q-Tip.

Q Tip went on to say:

“Me and Common [are] getting ready to form a group,” Q tells “We’ll probably run it through the Uni [Universal Records] joint because we’re both on Universal.”

“I’m probably gonna do a lot of it,” ‘Tip tells XXLMag. “And we’ll get Kanye [West] on a couple things, but you know, that cat is busy.”

It’s been 3 years since the plan was announced, but apparently super group The Standard is still underway and is ready to present the world with some phenomenal music.

As Common states:

@common: “I brought up Q-Tip because we talked yesturday about doing some great music and forming our group “The Standard.”

And indeed great music shall be presented ot the world. So be prepared because between these two artists we are sure to resurrect REAL HIP HOP back into existence.
