Common vs. Drake?? Common Doesn’t Back Down!!

| December 21, 2011 | 0 Comments

Common’s latest album, The Dreamer/The Believer dropped yesterday and not only has it been getting great reviews but it’s also come along with its share of drama too. First it started with the track, “The Dreamer” featuring legendary writer, Maya Angelou, where her and Common had a few differences because of his use of the N-word in the song. After it looked like Common and Dr. Angelou had kissed and made up, Drake came out of left field, taking offense to Common’s lyrics on the song “Sweet” about soft and “uncreative” rappers. According to Silver Tongue Online, Drake took to the stage at a show in Vegas saying “I might sing, but I ain’t no b!tch. If Common got something to say, say it to my face.”

Unlike many rappers who try to backtrack and downplay statements they’ve made, Common stands behind his statements and goes into detail about his lyrics and who they’re aimed at. In an exclusive interview with Sway on Shade 45, Common says “The verse is about me, but then when you hear some of the stuff on the chorus it’s like you can’t help but think about dude I guess”.
