Dr. Dre Apologizes To All The Women He Abused In The Past

After the release of  the successful Straight Outta Compton movie last week, Dr. Dre has been put back into the limelight and so has his past of domestic abuse. On Friday, Dre released a statement to the New York Times apologizing to all the women he abused in  the past.

“Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life. However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way,” Dr. Dre, now 50, said. “I’m doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again. […] I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives.”

Most critics claim that Straight Outta Compton glosses and completely ignores N.W.A.’s ignored allegations, criminal charges, and Dre’s domestic abuse issues.

Apple, who has a partnership with Dr. Dre, also released a statement about the situation: “Dre has apologized for the mistakes he’s made in the past and he’s said that he’s not the same person that he was 25 years ago. We believe his sincerity and after working with him for a year and a half, we have every reason to believe that he has changed.”

Long before the movie and its success, Dre’s ex-girlfriends Tairrie B, a former labelmate and R&B singer Michel’le, who dated him in the late 1980’s have spoken about their alleged abuse from Dre for many years. “I’ve been talking about my abuse for many, many years, but it has not gotten any ears until now,” said Michel’le to the Times.

Do you think Dr. Dre is honestly a changed man or is he just trying to cover it up because of the success with the film?
