On Tuesday, singer Chris Brown is expected to appear in a Washington, DC courtroom where he is likely to accept a plea deal and avoid up to a six-month sentence stemming from an alleged assault on a fan that claims the singer punched him while he was trying to take a photo with him. His bodyguard has already been convicted in the same courtroom several months ago after trial decided by a judge.

Despite famed attorney Mark Geragos stating that the singer had no reason to accept such a plea agreement, those words may prove to be false. In a videotaped interview Geragos stated:

“You got the bodyguard who was convicted and who readily admitted that he was the one who did the punching. So this is much to do about nothing and frankly I look forward to being able to try this at some point.”

When asked are there any plans that the singer will take a plea, Geragos responded:

“There is no reason to take a plea, why would we take a plea when he didn’t do anything? Everybody said that there was one punch thrown and the bodyguard was convicted of the one punch thrown so why would we plea to something he didn’t do?”

While that logic makes sense to a reasonable person, the risk of a trial might not be the logical thing to do for Chris Brown based on his earlier conviction in the assault of Rihanna as well as his current probation status for that crime.
