The 7-foot Spanish sensation, Pau Gasol is reportedly working on a deal with the Chicago Bulls.
Chicago is already in pursuit of the biggest free agent still on the market in Carmelo Anthony. If Chicago reaches a deal with Gasol, so much of Chicago’s cap space will be occupied. That means even more wheeling and dealing for Chicago if they want to free up enough cap space to land both Melo and Gasol, a prospect Chicago probably has no interest in pursuing.
However, if Gasol does decide to sign with Chicago the Bulls will have one of if not the most formidable frontcourts in the NBA. The front line will feature Gasol and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Joakim Noah. Gasol will bring an added combination of size, athleticism, passing, defense, and range to the Bulls frontcourt. Noah already possesses four of those five aforementioned assets.
Additionally, the Bulls will have a potent squad of players. With the return of a healthy Derrick Rose, an emergence in Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson playing the role of the solid sixth man he is, Chicago could be legitimate contenders in the Eastern Conference throughout the course of the regular season and come playoff time.
