Senator Isadore Hall III who is also a native of Compton introduced Kendrick Lamar to the senate by acknowledging his accomplishments in music and commending him for his humanitarian efforts in his hometown.

“Being from the City of Compton and knowing the parks that I played at and the neighborhoods, I always thought how great the opportunity would be to give back to my community off of what I do in music,” said Lamar as he received his award. “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for honoring me today.”

Despite his success, King Kendrick is no stranger to Compton and can even be described as a familiar face. He recently released a video for the track “King Kunta” that celebrates Compton.
