LeBron Likely To Remain In South Beach

After a humiliating five-game sweep against the San Antonio Spurs the future of the big-three in Miami became a question. However, LeBron James will likely stay with the Miami Heat according to a source close to the situation.

The big three Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James formed an alliance back in the summer of 2010 and have made four straight NBA Finals appearances, two of which culminated in championships.

As it stands now each of the “Big Three” have opt-out clauses in their contracts and can become a free agent by July 1.

Miami fans feared that LeBron would leave the Heat after the dismantlement of Miami at the hands of the Spurs in the finals. LeBron would have had plenty of incentive to move on to another franchise with a younger roster looking to rebuild.

However, LeBron has decided to stay put in Miami for the time being and has given several Heat fans a sigh of relief.

The Heat are in a catch-22 when it comes to Wade, Bosh, and James opting in on the final year of their contracts. While Miami can benefit from all three opting in on those contracts and pushing for another championship, the problem could lie in the fact that Wade, Bosh, and James will be free agents following next season.

The free agency speculation pertaining to the Big Three could lead to possible distractions that could impede on their focus to winning another title.

One possible solution, at least pertaining to LeBron, could be him opting out his final year and re-signing with Miami for a short-term deal for possibly three years with a second-year option. This will ensure LeBron is not locked in to a long-term commitment with Miami but also time enough to help lead Miami back to the finals for another crack at a title.

Free-agency begins less than two weeks from now and LeBron is expected to make his decision after weighing his options for the next two weeks.
