Legends in Black America Pay Homage to Heavy D

The Hip Hop community paid tribute to the life of the late great, Heavy D in a private memorial service at the Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon New York. Heavy D was a much needed positive soul in the Hip Hop community who will be missed dearly. Showing their respects included the likes of Jay-Z, Will Smith, Diddy. President Obama’s words were read by Heavy D’s daughter, Xea Myers at the funeral.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time,” the note from Obama read. “He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.”-President Obama
