Toya Carter’s new husband Mickey “Memphitz” Wright was arrested yesterday at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport for allegedly having a gun in his backpack. According to TMZ, Wright is charged with carrying a weapon in an unauthorized location. He is being held in the Clayton County Jail without bond.

According to police, Wright is licensed to carry a gun, and he told authorities he had forgotten the weapon was in the bag when it went through the scanner at the checkpoint. TSA officials said offenders could face up to $10,000 in fines for bringing a gun to the airport. Apparently there is an epidemic of weapons being brought into the airport lately as TSA has reported that more than one weapon a day is discovered going through checkpoints.

A word to the wise, if you have a license to carry a firearm in any state and you are traveling with your weapon make sure you 1) check the weapon in with your luggage under the plane and 2) make sure your permit covers you for any state that you are traveling to. While the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution states that a US citizen has a Right to Bear Arms, there are conditions to that law and we should get well acquainted with it before traveling through public places with guns.
