Keinon Johnson, the founder and creator of The Maven Brand celebrated the one year anniversary of Never Sold Dope Apparel Collection on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the beautiful ZuCot Gallery in Atlanta, GA. Atlanta’s growing creative scene experienced a soundtrack by Atlanta’s DJ Mars and complimentary spirits provided by Pernod Ricard. Guests were also privy to a sneak preview of ZuCot Gallery’s upcoming show titled The Spring Palette Cleanse, which is scheduled to open to the public Friday, April 22, 2016.
Keinon addressed the crowd about why he started his brand and the importance behind the message. “I’ve noticed over the last few years that urban American culture has been growing more and more out of balance and only the most negative aspects of it are being celebrated and promoted through mainstream media. I wanted to show our youth that there are people who have made it out of the ‘hood’ and did not resort to selling drugs to do it,” said Keinon Johnson, founder of the Never Sold Dope Apparel Collection. Councilman Kwanza Hall also addressed the packed house and declared Friday, April 15, 2016 as ‘Never Sold Dope’ day in Atlanta.
Special guests in attendance included some of Atlanta’s leading entertainment executives, fashion influencers and public figures including Councilman Kwanza Hall, Ox (Ryan Leslie manager), Ryan Haslam (A3C Festival), Cannon Kent (Atlantic Records), Taiye Samuel (nightlife promoter), Keshia Walker (Insights Marketing and Promotion), Greg Johnson (entertainment executive), Nikki Foster (Sr. Producer at Turner Broadcasting System), Middleman Fresh (Wardrobe Stylist), Gail Lane (Showroom 007 and Farrah Bella Vintage Boutique), Jason Riddick (Hot 107.9 Promotions Director), Garnett Reid (entertainment executive), Mykel McIntosh (Snak Nation), Maurice Garland (HipHopWired.com), Biddy Barnes (Etc…Kicks) and more.
