New Music: Akon – The Koncrete Mixtape

Fresh off of the intriguing VH1 Behind The Music special, Akon makes a surprising return to music with his free output The Koncrete Mixtape. The feature heavy 15 track mixtape is the long awaited example of how important Akon is to music. If you caught the VH1 special you are familiar with Akon’s ear for talent, discovering the likes of T-Pain and Lady Gaga. Since the two have been dominating music for last few years, primarily Gaga, Akon has taken a step back to let his artist blossom into international superstars. With that plan unfolding to be a success, Akon returns to his calling. Making hits.

Akon recruits the hottest producers and artist in the game covering all aspects in today’s popular music. Long time Konvict affiliate and Bad Boy recording artist Fench Montana has multiple appearances, the stand out being “Self Made” with Memphis vets Project Pat and Juicy J. Atlanta’s Gucci Mane still has his flow together on “Top Chef” while 2 Chainz proves he  is still the hottest artist in hip hop on “Honey Im Home”. The most surprising features come from Usher and Movado respectively. Akon separates himself from the field of amateurs with his latest piece of work just in time for Spring.
