Nicki Minaj “I wanna thank all the girls of Hip-Hop”and Jay Z take home 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards

Mrs.Harajuku Barbie Nicki Minaj took home three BET Hip Hop awards this weekend for Rookie of the Year, Made-You-Look Award, and People’s Champ Award.

“Last year, I was here in anticipation of the cypher,” she told the crowd during her acceptance speech for her first award, referring to the artist rap freestyles that run in between the award presentations and performances. “Now I’m here in anticipation of my debut (Pink Friday, slated for November 23).

Despite all the animosity Lil’ Kim cooked up in regards to Nicki Minaj; she still took the time to thank all the woman of Hip Hop.

Nicki wasn’t the only big winner that night,  New York’s legendary emcee and multi-millionaire Jay-Z also took home awards for Best Combo “Empire State of mind” with Alicia Keys and Best Live Performer award. Jay Z was not in attendance, but his presence was truly missed.

Opening the show with smash hit “B.M.F,” Ricky Rozay took home two trophies for the night for Track of the Year for “B.M.F” produced by Lex Luger and Club Banger of the Year.


MC Hammer, Rick Ross and Diddy performance

The I Am Hip Hop award was presented to 80’s and 90s female duo, Salt-N-Peppa while P.Diddy took home the Hustler award, Swizz Beatz getting Producer of the Year, and DJ Khaled recognized as Best DJ.

The lineup of performers included;  Ross, The Diplomats, B.O.B, Big Boi, who was joined by Yelawolf, Soulja Boy, J.Cole, Cali Swag District, Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame.

The BET Hip Hop Awards was filled with eventful surprises, from Hammer making an appearance to a Dipset reunion. Make sure you tune-in to the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards which airs October 12th at 8 p.m. on BET.
