BET 2010 Hip Hop Awards
This year the BET Hip Hop Awards was filled with eventful surprises, from Hammer making an appearance to a Dipset reunion. And yes, our very own Harajuku Barbie Nicki Minaj took home three awards for Rookie of the Year, Made-You-Look Award, and People’s Champ Award.

“Last year, I was here in anticipation of the cypher,” she told the crowd during her acceptance speech for her first award, referring to the artist rap freestyles that run in between the award presentations and performances. “Now I’m here in anticipation of my debut (Pink Friday, slated for November 23).

Despite all the animosity Lil’ Kim cooked up about Nicki Minaj; she still took the time to thank all the woman of Hip Hop.

Seems like Nicki wasn’t the only big winner that evening! None-other than New York’s legendary emcee Jay-Z took home awards for Best Combo “Empire State of mind” with Alicia Keys and Best Live Performer award. Jay Z was not in attendance, but his presence was truly missed in the building.

Opening the show with smash hit “B.M.F” Ricky Rozay took home two trophies for the night, Track of the Year for “B.M.F” produced by Lex Luger and for Club Banger of the Year.

The I Am Hip Hop award was presented to 80’s and 90s female Trio, Salt-N-Peppa. And Diddy took home Hustler award, Swizz Beatz getting Producer of the Year, and DJ Khale get named Best DJ.

The lineup of performers was pretty legit as well including, Ross, The Diplomats, who reunited on stage for first time in years, B.O.B performing “Don’t Let me Fall” and Big Boi, who was joined by Yelawolf.

Other performances included, Soulja Boy, J.Cole, Cali Swag District, Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame.

Make sure you tune into 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards–hosted by Mike Epps– which airs October 12th at 8 p.m. on BET.
