A wise man once said, “The same people who build you up, will be the same people who will bring you down”.  Rapper/Producer Pharrell Williams is having a phenomenal year, but now Pharrell has found himself amongst some controversy.

On the cover of the July issue of Elle magazine, the “jack of all trades”, sported a Native American headdress.  The headdress offended many people who then turned to social media to express how upset they were.  Attached to these comments you can find the hashtag #NotSoHappy.

Pharrell may be the one taking the heat for the picture, but the actual idea was never his.  It is still unclear as to whose idea it really was, but ELLE’s UK website issued this statement. “[W]e persuaded ELLE Style Award winner Pharrell to trade his Vivienne Westwood mountie hat for a Native American feather headdress in his best ever shoot.”

After Pharrell became aware of the negative response he issued this apology: “I respect and honor every kind of race, background and culture,” he said. “I am genuinely sorry.”
