Periscope Exclusive: Activist/Rapper @KwameRose Confronts Black Chicago Cops “Why Don’t You Want to Shake My Hand?”

| November 29, 2015 | 0 Comments

Baltimore rapper and activist Kwame Rose was in Chicago recently as the city’s retail district was on lock down as protesters took to the streets to protest the death and cover-up of Laquan McDonald by Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke. The activist was using the popular social media app Periscope while he recorded his participation in the protests when he asked two black Chicago police officers what were their thoughts about the protests that were going on.

Kwame Rose even tried to shake the hand of one of the black cops that were at the rally only to be told that he could not. Why couldn’t he shake his hand was a legitimate question however the cop refused to answer. At some point a white cop interrupted Rose’s attempts to get the cop to shake his hand by stating that he would shake his hand instead. To which Rose responded that he didn’t want to shake his hand, he wanted to shake the brother’s hand. Kwame’s fame rose to national levels when he was seen confronting Fox News Geraldo Rivera during the Baltimore protests after the death of Freddie Gray.

The exchange was pretty interesting to say the least. Watch the video above and let us know what you think. [Tweet “Was @KwameRose wrong for asking for a handshake from the Chicago cop?”]
