Pan Africanist Gangster Rapper, Civic Leader & Activist, direct from his twitter biography, Killer Mike will speak this coming Friday (April 24th) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on race relations in America. This is part two of MIT’s Hip Hop Speaker Series, Young Guru spoke in March. Killer Mike will be speaking on a few different topics such as SAE Oklahoma chant, Ferguson, white privilege and black empowerment. Mike will also discuss the role of technology in race relations currently and how they can impact the future.

MIT may not have been able to get any rapper more qualified as Killer Mike has been very vocal and informed on these issues. He has written op-eds and made numerous appearances on CNN discussing race. Most recently, as the group Run The Jewels, he released the video for ‘Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)’ which details the continuous struggle of police brutality in a very remarkable way.

The event is for MIT students only, but hopefully there will be some video that is able to reach the internet. Killer Mike continues to be one of the most influential members in the hip hop community with actions such as this. The conversation of race in America is a never-ending one and this event is sure to be amazing and a must see if you have the privilege to be there.
