Sherman And Crabtree Bad Blood Still Intact

| July 10, 2014 | 0 Comments

The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks have established one of the most intensified rivalries in recent memory in the NFL. There is nothing but bad blood between the two teams every time they take to the field. However, Seahawks Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman and 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree have a personal beef going on that is still much intact.

It all started before the beginning of the 2013 season when both Crabtree and Sherman exchanged words at a charity softball game hosted by Cardinals All-Pro receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Then the bad blood between the two took a head six months ago in the NFC Championship Game between the Seahawks and 49ers. Crabtree and Sherman exchanged words throughout the course of the game so much to the point where Crabtree taunted Sherman numerous times. Sherman held Crabtree to only 4 receptions for 52 yards in that game.

However, it was Sherman who got the last laugh late in the game when he tipped a pass thrown by Kaepernick that was intended for Crabtree in the end zone in the waning seconds of the game. Sherman’s tip ended up in the hands of Seahawks linebacker and Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith to seal the deal and stamp the Seattle’s ticket to Super Bowl XLVIII.

The play itself went down as one of the greatest moments in NFL Postseason history. The moment that transpired soon after may be just as memorable. That is Sherman’s postgame interview with Fox reporter Erin Andrews, where Sherman exploded screaming, “I’m the best corner in the game. When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s the result you’re going to get. Don’t you ever talk about me.”

The Seahawks would go on to win Super Bowl XLVIII in convincing fashion 43-8 over the Denver Broncos.

Sherman elaborated on his disdain towards Crabtree during an appearance on Discovery Channel’s “American Muscle”. He stated “I hope to play [Crabtree] every year for the rest of my career and choke him out. There’s not much else I can say about the subject. Nobody will understand it but him and me.”

Whether an avid football fan or not it is hard to disagree that the heated ongoing feud between Crabtree and Sherman would be one of the more entertaining and intriguing stories of national sports this season.
