Drake brought Club Paradise to Atlanta on Sunday and shut the city down. The concert was held at Aaron’s Amphitheater at Lakewood and was attended by thousands. The show kicked off early with French Montana taking the stage followed by Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, and Waka Flocka. Although there was a brief rain shower, that did not stop the festivities. Before Drake came on, Grammy nominated J. Cole came out and rocked the stage with songs from his mixtapes and from his album “Sideline Story.”

It was well after 9:00 by the time Drake came on stage, but everyone was still eager to see his performance. Drake had an elaborate stage set up with multiple screens, lights, and impressive pyrotechnics. He greeted the city and said, “Atlanta, Georgia, for some reason they kept us apart for like a year and a half, and I’ve been waiting so f*****g long for his show right here. Well, I go by the name of Drizzy Drake and I’d like to formally welcome you to the greatest motherf*****g club in the world: Club Paradise.” Drake then continued the show with new and old songs including “Crew Love,” “I’m on One,” and “Over.”

After performing a few of his own songs, Drake brought out some guests to perform with. 2 Chainz stepped back on stage and the two performed “No Lie” together which is the first single from 2 Chainz’s highly anticipated album. Drake also performed with French Montana and Atlanta’s “hometown heroes” Waka Flocka, Future, and T.I. With each guest the crowd’s energy grew even more electrifying. Although it had been almost two years since Drake has been in the city, the concert made it feel like he never left. Drake took time out to interact with the crowd where he called people out and even made a few jokes. The last half of the show was concentrated on songs from his latest album. Thank Me Later and he performed “Over My Dead Body,” “Practice,” and “The Motto” among others. Drake thanked the crowd and closed the show with his song “Headlines.” Overall everyone had great performances and we can’t wait until Drake is back in Atlanta, but I’m sure that’s something he knows.
