We’ve recently learned that director Spike Lee will indeed be directing a remake of the South Korean film “Oldboy”. But what’s even better is that he’s bringing “Mookie” back to the big screen.
According to blackfilm.com Lee is currently working on a new feature film called “Red Hook Summer”.
Details on the plot have not yet been released but one thing for sure is that Spike Lee will be reprising his role as Mookie from his 1989 film “Do the Right Thing”. Lee tweeted yesterday:
Mookie was the Brooklyn pizza delivery worker who bumped heads with his boss over racial issues. Lee was 32 when he played the character and now at 54, we’re not sure if things will be the same but either way it goes we’re happy to see Mookie again!
Production on the film is scheduled to start this month.
“Do the Right Thing” is one of Lee’s great bodies of work and it was the only time Lee himself played the lead in one of his films. For those of you who are not familiar with the character Mookie or “Do the Right Thing” Check out the official trailer below and GO WATCH IT!!
