PETA’s 35th anniversary party was held this week at the Hollywood Palladium and  longtime vegan RZA was honored for his commitment to animal rights after starring in a public service announcement urging fans to give up meat, eggs, and dairy foods. The event featured exclusive performances by Sir Paul McCartney and Beck and was hosted by Pamela Anderson and Anjelica Huston.

Attending the event with his wife Talani Rabb and aking the stage to accept his award, the Wu-Tang Clan leader said,

“I would like to thank PETA for honoring me with a Humanitarian Award. It’s an award that does not aim to reflect my art—it instead reflects my heart. With the abundance of … alternatives, I don’t think it’s mandatory to kill animals in order … to thrive and survive. And, more importantly, it’s definitely not mandatory to kill each other. “
