Lawrence Taylor escaped a possible prison sentence after pleading guilty to having sex with an underage runaway girl. Taylor, 51, pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute after being arrested and accused of paying $300 to have sex with a teenager in a Rockland County hotel last May.
“She told me she was 19,” Taylor told the judge as he entered his guilty plea in a New City court.
He told the judge he now knows the girl was underage. According to police reports the 16 year old girl was part of a human trafficking ring which was eventually broken up due to Taylor’s cooperation with state and federal authorities. Taylor is scheduled to be sentenced in March and at that time he will find out if he has to be registered as a sex offender.
His attorney believed that had his case went to trial he would have possibly one but Taylor didn’t want to put anyone else through unnecessary hardship. The teen has since gone back to school.
