What should have been a blissful evening between newlyweds, friends and family turned in a disaster when an uninvited cousin of the groom opened fire on guest leaving a wedding reception in Orlando.
Around 1 a.m. on Sunday (May 8) morning a crazed wedding crasher pulled a gun and starting shooting injuring one young woman. This all took place at the Rotary Club of West Orlando.
Orlando Police reported the 25-year-old woman was the caught a bullet to the upper body but no one else was hurt. Afterward the gunman fled the scene speed away in a black Lexus.
Witnesses said the incident started as an altercation between the shooter and the groom. The shooter pulled out the gun and began shooting in the air and then took aim at the crowd. One local report said the woman and the shooter knew each other and that he singled her out.
Rotary Club owner Sam Restuccio told Orlando’s WFTV television, “He didn’t belong here, he wasn’t invited. And the end result was someone got hurt because of a bad choice this guy made.”
Police reported the wounded woman was rushed to a nearby hospital and was expected to be okay.
Deputies said they had identified the shooter and found his car later Sunday.
