This past Sunday (June 5), hip hop’s queen, Queen Latifah that is, was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. The hall honors New Jersey natives who have made their mark in the fields of history, entertainment, enterprise and sports. There’s also a general category for educators, military leaders and politicians.

Other honorees for the evening included Tony Bennett, John Travolta, Martha Stewart and former New Jersey Gov. Brendan.

This was a huge honor for the rapper turned entrepreneur. “I’m home,” she told the crowd at Newark’s New Jersey Performing Arts Center as she accepted the honor. “New Jersey is in my blood.”
