On the heels of the 40th anniversary of death of the late great rapper Tupac Shakur, An imprisoned New York City man is claiming that he is responsible for the robbery and shooting of the legendary rapper and that he was paid $2500.00 for the shooting at the direction of fugitive music executive Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond. As incredible as this story sounds there are more questions now than before as to who had the motive to orchestrate such a cowardly act.

Dexter Isaac who is currently serving time in prison for murder, robbery and other violent crimes has made this shocking revelation after he said Jimmy Henchman called him a snitch in a previous interview with Allhiphop.com

“I want to apologize to his family [Tupac Shakur] and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman],” Dexter Isaac told AllHipHop.com from prison. “I am trying to clean it up to give [Tupac and Biggie’s] mothers some closure.”

Some might ask why he is speaking out now. What was his real motivation for taking responsibility for the shooting?

Coincidently, Jimmy Henchman is currently running from federal authorities for an outstanding arrest warrant involving alleged narcotics distribution. However, he did find the time to give an exclusive interview to allhiphop.com about why he believed he would not receive a fair trial.

“If the government is relying on informants like Winston “Winnie” Harris, a convicted drug dealer and Jamaican deportee, who came to me and motioned via hand signal that he was forced to wear a wire and begged me to skip town or Dexter Isaac who is serving life in prison plus 30 years, then I’m sure I will not be offered a fair trial,” Henchman said in a statement released to AllHipHop.com in May of 2011.

Some might buy this type of thinking if they don’t understand how the criminal justice system works but the fact of the matter is that innocent men don’t run; they stay and fight for their freedom.

    According to Allhiphop.com:
Isaac was a lifelong friend of Jimmy Henchmen, who helped the former mogul set up his first company, Henchman Entertainment, in 1989.

Isaac claims he never cooperated with the government in any investigation, and Jimmy Henchman’s allegations infuriated him.

Isaac, who is also from Brooklyn, has long been suspected of being involved in the Quad shooting of Tupac Shakur, along with an associate name Spencer “Scooter” Bowens, who is also serving a life sentence and another man named George Roland Campbell.

So we have a long time friend of Henchman who is claiming he was paid to rob and possibly kill the slain rapper make such shocking revelations and then Henchman who is hiding from the police being accused of setting up one of the biggest names in hip hop nowhere to be found to defend himself for alleged crimes of his past and present. To validate his claims, Isaac claims to have in his possession the gold chain Tupac Shakur was wearing at the time of the shooting. He has even eluded to music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs being involved in some way.

Why would a convicted murderer who is serving a life sentence plus 30 years implicate individuals if there is no truth to his story? It sounds like he is trying to clear his conscious while trying to get some revenge to me. What are your thoughts?

Editor’s note: This is probably the biggest story that has come out of hip hop in years and something tells me there will be others implicated and charged for Tupac’s murder. I remember sitting with the slain rapper at the famous Sylvia’s Restaurant in Harlem talking about him being shot and who could have wanted to kill him and while he couldn’t specifically point a finger at his shooter but he did believe it involved someone in the music industry. Grand Master Grouchy Greg deserves a Pulitzer Prize for breaking this astonishing story.
