Miguel performs at the 2011 Essence Music Festival
Popular NY radio morning show “The Breakfast Club” on 105.1 FM aired a spoof of singer Miguel’s song “Sure Thing” early Wednesday morning questioning his sexuality.
As his No.2 hit song, “Sure Thing,” was played “You can bet that, you don’t have to sweat that” the lyrics were changed to, “You can bet that, Miguel wants your butt crack,” which was then followed by a voice emphasizing “n*gga you’re gay.”
The R&B singer’s sexuality has recently been frequently questioned by many online blogs and media personalities due to his eclectic fashion.
Although the spoof was intended to make you laugh a little bit, it was apparently highly offensive. The Human Rights Campaign released this statement to NewsOne:
“There’s nothing humorous about homophobia,” said Deputy Press Secretary Paul Guequierre.

“When young people who might be struggling with their identity listen to the radio, they shouldn’t hear a dangerous message of hate. Radio stations have a responsibility instead to send a message that embraces everyone for who they are.”
Last month, Miguel defended his sexuality when he assured, “For anyone who questions my sexuality, the honest truth is I love women. I’ve always openly loved women.”
Hmmm… What do y’all think? Did the hosts of “Breakfast Club go too far when questioning whether the singer is gay or straight or was it just a simple form of good/bad humor? Side note: The late superstar R & B singer Luthur Vandross revealed before he died that he was also gay but we doubt if anyone was rushing to discard any of his music they possessed in their collection. At the end of the day does it really matter?
