VH1’s hit series “Single Ladies” starring Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea has been given the go-ahead to begin filming its second season. With plenty of mixed reviews floating all over the net, I guess there’s a large group of people who don’t like the show but an even larger group of viewers who love it!
Being the network’s first hour-long scripted series, the show averaged 2.8 million viewers during its first run episodes alongside VH1 favorite “Basketball Wives”.
“Our viewers have fallen for ‘Single Ladies’ and its honest, modern take on love, female friendship and dating,” said Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President of Original Programming & Production, VH1. “We’re extremely pleased to give the audience another great season of the series they love.”
With the success of “Single Ladies” and “Basketball Wives”, VH1 has become the #1 cable channel with women on Monday nights.
The show’s creator Queen Latifah had this to say about the renewal:
“My partner Shakim [Compere] and I are so excited that ‘Single Ladies’ has been received so well. We knew from the beginning this show was going to appeal to people everywhere; it’s funny, sexy and smart. We are so happy that we were able to join with VH1 to find such a great home for this incredible show.”
The second season of “Single Ladies” is expected to begin filming late this year and is scheduled for premiere in 2012.
“Single Ladies” airs Monday nights at 9pm ET/PT. Don’t miss the season one finale on Monday, August 8.
