Recently, the city of Dallas has been working diligently to spread knowledge about the fast growing HIV/AIDS epidemic. #NewDallas reps have dedicated their time to the city’s effort by participating in “Testing 4 Tickets”. “Testing 4 Tickets” is part of the 97.9 The Beat’s Hip Hop 4 HIV concert admission process. Those who undergo a free HIV test can receive a free ticket to the concert taking place on August 21, 2011.
This year, the goal is to expose the new average ages of positive HIV/AIDS cases in Dallas. Recent studies have shown that young people ranging in ages from 13 to 25 are at a higher risk of contracting the disease. It was the perfect opportunity for #NewDallas to stand behind a cause that affects their audience and could possibly change the future.
Que P, The Jett, B. Hardy, J-Mack, Cool Beings leader Jesse Porter, and others were out promoting through action the #NewDallas mission, which is unity in the Dallas community and music industry.

#NewDallas is primarily made up of solo artists supporting one another despite each being in different “lanes”, musically. “We are about supporting one another’s craft, even if we may not make the same kind of music,” says The Jett. “I am saying I support you because you have a dream and you are chasing it successfully thus far.
#NewDallas reps are selflessly doing what it takes together, to make sure there is change; not only in the comradely of the music industry, but also in the Dallas community, where teens and young adults fall victim to so many negative issues and HIV/AIDS being one.
