Meet Spitta in the Game Room.. With Snacks.
We’re officially crowning Curren$y as the hardest working dude in Rap. The man just gave us the masterpiece known as Weekend at Burnie’s in June, and already he’s blessing us with his next body of work: Verde Terrace, hosted by DJ Drama and starring Curren$y as Spitta Andretti. Here’s the amazing thing – any rapper can put out a mixtape every other month, but who can release a mixtape every other month, with the final result sounding and feeling like an actual album? Spitta, that’s who.

The mixtape didn’t need to be previewed to know it’d be amazing, but we did it anyway. Even DJ Drama had to respect the chill atmosphere by leaving out his usual overbearing, track-ruining ad libs on the intro titled “Job”. Personally, there’s nothing better than a nice intro to set the tone for a mixtape that you’ve been anticipating, and “Job” is the perfect intro for this breezy, riding down a coastal highway mixtape. Hennessy Beach featuring Dom Kennedy sounds like something that your cool dad that listens to jazz, would listen to on a Saturday afternoon. And of course, Spitta pays homage to Hip Hop Legends, Outkast while spitting over the Elevators beat on Smoke Sum’n. He picks the energy back up with Run Dat Sh!t, produced by Monsta Beatzand the beat doesn’t sound like anything you’re hearing from other rappers today. One of the last tracks, Music To Ride To, is just that – music you can ride to. Trademark da Skydiver and Young Roddyboth appear on this track and Roddy is slowly but surely becoming our second favorite JET lifer, with his subtle New Orleans drawl and maturing flow.
Overall, Verde Terrace is a piece of laid back art interjected with classic-feeling beats to keep us listening and lyrics about the “Movie” that Curren$y’s life has become.
