A police officer in Philadelphia has been arraigned on rape and other charges after being accused of raping a woman inside his squad car. Keith Corley, a 27-year old man, was allegedly on duty when the sexual assault took place. Corley is being charged with rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent exposure and official oppression for an incident that took place on August 11.
The victim said she was waiting for a bus in West Philadelphia when Officer Corley offered to give her a ride to the 69th Street Terminal. The woman claims that this is when he took her to another area instead and sexually assaulted her while inside the police vehicle. Police are gathering DNA from the police car and issued a search warrant on the officer’s home.
Corley is a four-year veteran of the Philadelphia police force and a married father of four step children. His gun and badge have been taken away and he has been suspended for 30 days with the intent to dismiss, according to police.
Just last week we reported that an off-duty New York City cop was also charged with rape and he has since pleaded not guilty to the charges. While both Police officers charged with these crimes are presumed to be innocent, a jury of their peers will have to decide if in fact these women were actually raped.
