Over the holiday weekend while you were grubbing on ribs, chicken and potato salad, Soulja Boy was acting a fool, as usual. And to think, we just did a post on his new mixtape wondering if maybe the young buck was starting to grow up and get a little substance about himself. His recent release of the viral video, “Let’s Be Real“, proves otherwise, with Soulja Boy firing shots at the military. Video & Details after the jump.
Soulja Boy released “Let’s Be Real” a random internet track, which includes the lyrics “F**k the FBI and the army troops … fighting for what? Be your own man… I’ll be flying through the clouds with green like I’m Peter Pan.” Of course, those lyrics don’t sit too well with anyone, particularly the troops and a 5 year combat veteran, turned rapper known as Sgt. Dunson. Sgt. Dunson responded with a Soulja Boy diss track titled “Change Your Name” in which he tells Soulja not to ever “disrespect the U.S. Military, motherf**ker” and goes in on the ironic use of the name “Soulja” Boy”, while telling actual soldiers to be their own men. According to TMZ, an online petition started by another military vet has been started in order to get Soulja Boy’s music banned from all U.S. Military bases.

Sgt. Dunson Fires Back: Change Your Name to…Lil Boy
Just this morning, Soulja Boy released an apology on GlobalGrind.com in which he said, “As an artist, I let my words get the best of me. Sometimes there are things that we feel, things that we want to express, and when we put them on paper and speak them out loud, they can come out wrong.” Soulja Boy also went on to say, “I am just frustrated that we haven’t been able to bring you all home quick enough and my frustration got the best of me. I am deeply sorry.” Too little, too late?
