In a refreshing interview with Billboard.com, Nas talked about his upcoming album and the state of Hip Hop. Instead of the same ol’ “Hip Hop is dead” speech we’ve been hearing from fans and rappers alike the last few years, the veteran rapper actually admits that he is excited about the current state of Hip Hop. He gives praises to members of the newer generation such as Kanye, Rick Ross, Odd Future and Drake. Video inside!
Nas also states that Frank Ocean is “a new gust of wind, to move things out of the way.” “He has so many great ideas, and some of his lyrics I understand them a little bit too well. I’m a fan, and happy to work with him” said Nas. The New York native also spoke about how some of the songs on his last album didn’t really fit, so he wants to make sure that doesn’t happen this time around. Nas’ excitement when speaking about the album and his focus on presenting something fresh and new, that will stand the test of time will make even a non-fan excited for what’s to come.
