Obama’s American Jobs Act is a no-go in the Senate as CNN reports that the bill has been blocked. The Jobs Act would supposedly stimulate the economy by providing job creation, increasing jobless benefits, introducing new tax credits for businesses that hire long term-unemployed and modernizing and rebuilding America without adding a dime to the deficit. More importantly, the bill aims to create jobs for teachers and first responders. The bill is bi-partsian, but the GOP will not budge. President Obama and fellow Democrats are issuing public statements.
“For the second time in two weeks, every single Republican in the United States Senate has chosen to obstruct a bill that would create jobs and get our economy going again,” Obama said in a statement.
“Republicans have once again said no to creating jobs in America and no to helping the American people. They have turned their backs on our children and the safety of our communities by blocking a bill that would put 400,000 teachers, police officers and firefighters back to work,” Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-California, said in a statement.
