Twitter was ablaze this morning due to the outpouring of Happy Birthday tweets for Baton Rouge’s Lil Boosie. The now 29 year old rapper is serving a four year prison sentence in Louisiana State Penitentiary for drug and gun possession. Boosie’s birthday wishes were a trending topic world wide including tweets from hip hop veterans and newcomers alike.
The majority of the Happy Birthday tweets were followed by prayers and advice for Boosie to stay strong and keep his head up during his time behind walls. The 3rd coast rap game has been in good hands though, with the success of Mississippi’s Big K.R.I.T. as well as Houston’s Bun-B holding it down as usual. Due to the reality and emotions Boosie pours into his lyrics, he still has a following that resembles a cult without releasing any new music. Although this is the first, it will not be the last birthday “Mr. Badd Azz” spends in jail. Hopefully when he is released he will get back to giving the streets what they need. Free Boosie.
