Michael Rogers, a 49 year old jogger stopped to save a suicidal teen from drowning herself in a Connecticut lake, only for it to be later revealed that Rogers is a convicted child molester whose been on the run from Georgia law officials. On September 2nd, Rogers pulled the suicidal teen and a police officer that was trying to save her from a murky Connecticut lake after being flagged down by an employee from a child therapy center.
Rogers initially told Connecticut police that his name was Michael Patrick and that he felt obligated to lend a hand in the situation, stating “If I walked away it would be on my conscience. I just couldn’t walk away from that,” to a local newspaper. Eventually the officer whose life Rogers saved, visited Rogers at his sister’s Hamden home to thank him. Officials finally pieced together Rogers’ true identity and found out that the convicted child molester had been on the run from Georgia law enforcement after violating his probation in 2005, by leaving the state. Georgia authorities have said that they are planning to seek Roger’s extradition.
