Congratulations are in order for rapper Kanye West. And no, Beyonce hasn’t given birth to her child yet to make Yeezy a proud auntie. The 2012 Grammy Award nominations were announced Wednesday night at the “Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!” event in Los Angeles where Yeezy ended up leading the race with a total of seven nods. Although he may be the artist this year with the most mentions, none of them are for album of the year. However his efforts did not go unnoticed as his collaborative work with Jay-Z for Watch the Throne album is also up against his own My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy for Rap Album of the Year. Following close behind Ye’ with a total of six nominations is swinging London’s soulful sweetheart Adele who does have an Album of the Year nomination, and Lil Wayne with five. If you care to watch, the 54th annual Grammy Awards will air live Sunday, February 12th on CBS.
I for one will not be tuned in. The Grammy’s have a tendency to suck every vestige of interest out of me the same way a Kardashian sucks the life out of a potential suitor. Every year its the same formula when I tune in to see who opened the show, then I have to click back and forth between my regularly scheduled television viewing and the Grammys to see why my Facebook newsfeed is flooding. Anyway, congrats to Kanye (who wasn’t even present at the concert) on his many more achievments. Check out the rest of the pics from the event below!
