Rod Blagojevich, the impeached governor of Illinois received his sentencing today for his crimes of corruption, including his attempt to “sell” President Barack Obama’s former Senate seat back in 2008, in return for favors. Today Judge James Zagel sentenced the former governor to 14 years in prison today stating “Whatever good things you did for people as governor, and you did some, I am more concerned with the occasions when you wanted to use your powers when you wanted to do things that were only good for yourself.”
The sentencing came after Blagojevich stated “I’m here convicted of crimes and I am accepting of it, I acknowledge it and I of course am unbelievably sorry for it.” and after pleas of mercy from his wife and one of two daughters.
