On Saturday, an ex-NYPD cop snapped under the stress of the holidays and allegedly killed his wife after shooting her 10 times. Clarence Cash, 49, called police after supposedly shooting his wife Tracey Young in her Queens, NY condo after an argument that supposedly involved finances and expensive gifts he purchased Young for the holidays. It’s been reported that during the argument, Cash punched Young, then snapped and shot her after she threatened to leave him.
Allegedly, Cash called the police and said “I just shot my wife” after wandering the city for almost seven hours, wanting to commit suicide. The shooting happened after what appears to be a disagreement over holiday finances after Cash purchased a Louis Vuitton handbag and other expensive gifts for his wife. It appears that Cash may not have been able to afford the expensive gifts as he had been hit with federal tax liens, various civil judgements and owed back taxes. Reports show that Cash seemed remorseful, stating “My wife, she didn’t deserve that”. Cash is being held in protective custody at Rikers and is facing first degree murder charges.
