Jerry ‘Wonda’ Duplessis, Grammy Award-nominated musical composer and record producer, announces Olivia’s signing to his Wonda Music label.
In 2009, Jerry Wonda created Wonda Music and began producing on his own, placing his first record with teen sensation, Justin Bieber with “U Smile.” He has since crafted hits for Estelle, Mary J. Blige, and Lupe Fiasco, and has recently worked with Akon, Keyshia Cole, Keri Hilson, Musiq Soulchild and Miguel.
Jerry Wonda is no stranger to success, working as producer for The Fugees’ 1996 album The Score, one of the best-selling hip hop albums of all time gaining worldwide recognition. Their cover of the Roberta Flack classic, “Killing Me Softly” reached No. 2 on the Pop charts and No. 1 on the R&B charts. Wonda continued his production, working with Destiny’s Child on their remix of “No No No.” In 2000, Santana’s single “Maria Maria,” held the No. 1 chart position for 10 weeks. In 2006, Shakira’s worldwide hit “Hips Don’t Lie” became the top selling song of the 21st century and reached No. 1 in more than 50 countries.Wonda says, “Olivia Longott has an amazing voice, she’s beautiful, and has been signed to two successful record labels.”
This past season of VH1′s Love & Hip-Hop has revealed the ups and downs that Olivia faces and everyone seems to have their version of her truth, but now she’s pulling no punches and telling her side of the story. “December” has outperformed many songs of last year and she toured all of 2011 on the strength of the connection people made with the track. Olivia’s also in a new partnership with a popular tequila brand that will bear fruit in months to come. The video for her latest single “Walk Away” was released and quickly rang up over 1.3 million views on her YouTube station. Fourth quarter she plans to release her new album, Show the World, a suite of genuine R&B that is authentically Olivia. She’s learned to value herself as a brand and that value will not be compromised by deals that shortchange her talent and knowledge of the game.
Seen via their meeting on Love & Hip-Hop, Olivia collaborating alongside Jerry Wonda, their music will tell a story that has been fine-tuned through the years; a story of struggle, dedication and extremely hard work.
