A very determined thief walked into Lenox Mall in Atlanta and paid a visit to the popular Mayor’s Jewelry store with the sole purpose of helping himself to one of their expensive pieces of men’s jewelry. According to Atlanta police, a man wearing a pink shirt walked into the store and asked to see a mens Rolex timepiece and after the clerk showed him the watch, he left the store momentarily.
Minutes later he returned to the store and requested to see the watch again. But this time the sales clerk took him into a private showing room where he can be seen on video examining the watch more carefully.
Within minutes, the suspect stood up from his chair and casually walked over to the door and walked out with the sales clerk in hot pursuit. For whatever reason, there was no security in the store and once you look at the video, one would ask the obvious question, why didn’t the store employee require him to present a valid piece of identification prior to escorting him into the room? Why wasn’t the private room door secured by the store with a guard stationed outside? A dead giveaway that this guy didn’t have the money to purchase the watch was the fact that he reached in his pocket and pulled out a flip phone!
A ounce of prevention is worth a pound cure.
