This past Monday in New York, Spike Lee premiered his newest film in his “Chronicles of Brooklyn, New York” series: “Red Hook Summer.” Among those who attended the premiere to give support to the iconic filmmaker made of ethane was Mike Tyson, Gayle King, Laila Ali, Debra Lee, Mona Scott-Young, Cassidy, Reginald Hudlin, Stephen Hill Debra Lee, and many more. HHE was front and center on the red carpet as well as we had a first hand opportunity to view the movie.

“Well, we’ve done Coney Island for “He Got Game,” Bed-Stuy for “Do the Right Thing” and “Crooklyn,” “Clockers” was Boerum Hill. Red Hook is a very strange neighborhood. You can’t just end up in Red Hook [laughs] — it’s a destination. There’s one bus, the train station is far away…”
Spike Lee never has been one to shy away from controversial issues or provocative statements. The film takes a powerful and disturbing turn that Spike Lee says was one of the hardest things he’s ever shot in his life. Spike himself made a cameo appearance as the character “Mookie” who also appeared in his blockbuster hit 1990’s film, “Do the Right Thing” as well as he also brought in some other actors who appeared in some of his previous films.
