Alicia Keys has “added some extra excitement” to her already anticipated new album, new beginnings, new perspectives and “New Day,” the singer’s first single released from the upcoming project, Girl on Fire. She enthusiastically released the name of her fifth studio album on her website earlier this month and we can expect to see it in store on November 27th.
“I’m in the studio right now working away on my new album and I am SO excited!!! I’m ignited!!! I’m like a match to a flame! I’ve had the title of this album in my mind for a long time,” she wrote. “It’s been hard to hold it back and now I’m not holding it back anymore! It is called Girl on Fire!!! And that’s exactly how I feel!!! You’ll be learning more about it soon… but let me just say before making this record, in some ways I felt like a lion locked in a cage…I felt like a girl misunderstood that no one really knew, I felt like it was time to stop making excuses for any part of my life that I wanted to change. Once I made that choice I became a Girl on Fire, the lion broke free!!”
Husband/Producer, Swizz Beatz, made a valuable and noticeable contribution to Alicia’s fast-paced new single “New Day.” “Whether I rise or fall, I’m gonna give it my all. Party people say, ‘Ay, it’s a new day!’” sings Alicia. Listen to it below:
Alicia Keys has also told MTV that she plans on unveiling a “crazy” new track during the VMA awards. (See video below!) The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT
