On Wednesday, firefighters were called to a West Side building located in the East Garfield Park section of Chicago only to find an infant girl dead as a result of smoke inhalation. The child was identified as 2 month old Miracle Hooks.

The fire was reported to have started around 5pm at the 3100 block of West Franklin Boulevard, according to a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

In addition to the one death, eighteen adults and twelve children were left homeless as a result of the fire.

The American Red Cross has stepped in to assist the displaced families.

Our prayers go out to the family of the deceased child and to all the families that are now homeless.
